What is Phase 1 of the HCG Diet?
Phase 1 of the HCG Diet Protocol can be attributed in large degree to Kevin Trudeau’s book, The Weight Loss Cure “They” Don’t Want You to Know About. Trudeau referenced all the phases of Dr. Simeons’ manuscript, Pounds and Inches Away: A New Approach to Obesity, but also added an optional phase before the beginning of Dr. Simeons’ original protocol. He refers to this as Phase 1, a preparation phase in which you get yourself ready for the HCG Diet Protocol. This added phase is not required for successful weight loss, although there may be health benefits from some of the suggestions, such as completing a good Candida colon cleanse, etc.
Trudeau’s book suggests eating 100 percent organic, purchasing colonics, drinking exotic teas, and performing many, other health-oriented tasks. Since these suggestions are healthy alternatives and good ideas, they are not required before starting the diet to achieve successful weight loss. We consider some of these ideas easier to implement or work toward after losing the weight—instead of trying to implement too many drastic changes at one time into our already busy lives. Therefore, we actually recommend reading Trudeau’s book after successfully losing weight with Dr. Simeons’ HCG Diet Protocol.
However, many participants who have a couple of weeks before they start the HCG Diet Protocol, suggest that a good colon cleanse or some other systematic cleanse can help you feel better and cut down on the cravings during Phase 2 of the HCG Diet. Also, many participants lose a few pounds if they perform a cleanse or two. This can help get you moving in the right direction and build momentum as you get ready to start the protocol. It also is a great time for you to get fully educated on how to follow the diet. We suggest you read Dr. Simeons’ full manuscript before starting the low-calorie phase so you will be prepared. The HCG Weight Loss Cure Guide contains his manuscript, tips and tricks, charts for tracking your weight, an extensive food guide with nutritional information including which stages of the diet those foods are allowed and much more.
Since gallbladder issues can be complicated or aggravated by the HCG Diet or by losing significant weight with any weight loss plan, you may also consider doing a gallbladder/liver cleanse either before or immediately after completing the low-calorie phase as you move into the maintenance phase. If you are considering this type of cleanse, you should get started as soon as possible after the diet since gallbladder flare-ups seem to occur quickly once you finish dieting—especially if you have a history of gallbladder issues.
Keep the following ultimate goal in mind: To live a healthy life without constantly fighting your own body on food/weight issues. Enjoy your life with your friends and family!
