Can I Continue Taking HCG After the Diet?
All medications can have some sort of side effects and HCG is no different. However, some of the side effects are positive ones and our customers call in to ask if they can continue taking HCG after the diet. Below are some of the positive side effects of the HCG Diet Protocol reported by participants :
- Reduction in the amount of unhealthy cholesterol
- Decrease and stabilization of blood sugar levels/reduction in insulin requirement
- Decrease in amount of arthritic pain (if have arthritis)
- Decrease in food cravings
- Increase in desire for healthy foods
- Increase in energy levels
- Decrease in blood pressure and, accordingly, decrease in need for medication
- Reshaping of body
- Improvement in overall health
- Better, deeper sleep
- An overall feeling of well-being
HCG dieters don’t want to give up these positive side effects and, for this reason, they want to take HCG after they are no longer trying to lose weight on the low-calorie phase of the diet.
The answer to this question is, unfortunately, “no”. There are two main reasons for this.
1. Immunity to HCG sets in.
Per Dr. Simeons, the formulator of the HCG Diet Protocol, “Usually after about 40 injections* patients may feel the onset of immunity as hunger which was previously absent.”
(*meaning after 40 doses of HCG, taken in any form, not only by injection.)
2. A person may gain weight if eating “normally” and taking HCG.
HCG instructs the body to tap into abnormal fat stores to release about 1,500-4,000 calories per day into the system when the intake of calories is very low. However, a person with HCG in their system, who is not restricting their calorie intake will likely gain weight at a faster rate than if they were eating that same amount of calories without HCG in their system.
The HCG Diet provides for rapid weight loss and is accompanied by a list of positive sides effects but they can only be taken advantage of during the low-calorie phase of the diet. HCG should not be taken on an on-going basis.
